Active Learning Journeys: The Programs
We offer a variety of Active Learning Journeys both in the United States and internationally (coming soon). We focus each Journey on a specific activity, which will serve as the core metaphor for that program. Our upcoming programs in 2010 include a cycling adventure in the Russian River region of the Northern California wine country, a mountain biking program at Lake Tahoe and another road biking adventure in the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara. To learn more about these programs please click the links on the left. Other programs will be added in the coming months and are also listed below.

Mastering the Terrain: Cycling Sonoma County's Russian River Region
August 18-22, 2010
This Active Learning Journey (ALJ) will be based in Sonoma County's Russian River region, which borders both the coast and the inland beauty of the county. Our rides will take us to the edges of Bodega Bay, Occidental, Healdsburg and more. We'll explore the powerful metaphor of the bike and the road mirroring our lives, and how the lessons of the ride can inform our personal and professional journey. The cuisine and wine will be locally influenced. We will also have a professional cyclist join our group to provide us with insights into the mental and physical demands for achieving peak performance.

The Trail Less Traveled: Mountain Biking Lake Tahoe
September 15-19, 2010
Our first mountain biking ALJ will be based in the Lake Tahoe area where mountain biking aficionados come from all over the world to pedal the picturesque trails of this high Sierra outdoor paradise. In the Lake Tahoe region alone there are over 100 miles of marked trails where you can grunt, groan and stir up some dirt. Each day will feature a different trail with varying terrain. We will be riding both single track and fire roads, with a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of difficulty. We'll explore the powerful metaphor of the mountain bike and the trail mirroring our lives, and how the lessons of the ride can inform our personal and professional journey. The cuisine and wine will be organic and locally influenced.

Working with Flow: Kayaking the Sea of Cortez (Coming Soon)
We'll kayak the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez off of Baja Mexico's pristine and protected coastline. Being in kayaks will allow us to experience the flow of the ocean and how we work WITH or possibly fight against the flow on the water and in our lives. There will be other land-based activities as well. This 6-day program is suited to any kayaking skill level from beginner to advanced.
